In the spotlight: Microsoft Most Valuable Professional Tim Deschryver

On board since January 2022 and already impossible to imagine outside our team. Front-end developer Tim Deschryver carries the title of Microsoft Most Valuable Professional in Developer Technologies. As dotNET lab, we are very proud of our colleague, because appointments in that category are scarce. Tim is one of twelve Belgian MVPs in that category. Across all specializations, Belgium counts only 59 MVPs.

The submitted nominations are then reviewed thoroughly by Microsoft. Tim passed the procedure with flying colours and has been able to call himself a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional since last summer.
I did not have to take an exam, but they did ask for my references and achievements. That was not difficult, because I throw myself fully into the open-source community. After a positive evaluation, I received the title. I was very proud. But it is valid for only one year. I am lucky to have been nominated again. Until March, I could demonstrate my commitment with blogs, projects and more. The screening period is now running, and soon I will know whether I can call myself Most Valuable Professional for the second year in a row, under Microsoft's approving eye. Exciting.
Our customers and colleagues benefit from the deep design know-how Tim brings. It is no surprise, then, that we asked him to become domain specialist for all things front-end.
I thought I would spend my days at the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) programming, programming, programming. But it turns out I use both development and people skills. It is rewarding work, because I like helping others move forward in a focused way. Ive noticed that and suggested I become front-end domain specialist within dotNET lab. As an expert, I keep track of developments in that domain, while for colleagues I am the central point of contact for all design-related questions. A role made for me.
